WL-S girls fall to Tri-Village, 50-40


Tri-Village beat West Liberty-Salem, 50-40, in non-league girls basketball.

The score was tied, 11-11, at the end of the first quarter and 25-25 at the half.

Tri-Village out-scored the Tigers, 25-15, in the second half.

For the Tigers (8-2), Jamie Peterson had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Taylor Lauck added 9 points and 3 assists.

Tri-Village won the jayvee game, 29-25.

M’burg bowlers win

Mechanicsburg defeated Kenton Ridge, 2,741-2508, in non-league boys bowling.

Scores for the Indians were David McMahill 199, 139=338, Ross Parson 225, 173=398, Caleb Westfall 194, 166=360, Jake Ripley 259, 175=434, Cody Minor 158 and Preston Estep 144.

Mechanicsburg’s jayvee team lost, 1,926-1867.

The Mechanicsburg girls won, 2,597-2,375.

Scores for the Indians (10-2) were Lauren Mayberry 182, 221=403, Katie Bush 223, 205=428, Ally Hosier 215, 203=418, Michaela Edwards 180, 179=359, Miranda Keene 135 and Jenna Alspaugh 160.

The Mechanicsburg jayvees won, 1,912-1,667.

Emily O’Quinn had a 175 for the Indians.

Junior high wrestling

West Liberty-Salem competed at the Sidney tournament last weekend.

Zayne Reed wrestled 5 times and pinned his opponents in all 5 matches, winning the 174-pound weight class.

Junior high basketball

Jack Eggleston had 16 points in the WL-S boys 8th grade basketball team’s 41-22 win over Triad on Saturday.

The WL-S 7th grade boys basketball team beat Mechanicsburg, 38-28. Nick Burden and Tanner Le Van each scored 8 points for the Tigers.

The WL-S 8th grade boys won, 42-18. The Tigers (6-1) were led by Eli McGill with 11 points and Ethan Cole with 9.

The WL-S 7th grade girls lost to Mechanicsburg, 27-22. For WL-S, Grace Estes had 11 points and five rebounds.

WL-S won the 8th grade girls game, 21-17. For the Tigers, Alex Burton controlled the boards swiping 12 rebounds and she had 8 points.

Leaders were not reported by Mechanicsburg.

The Triad 7th grade boys lost to Greeneview, 47-28. Drew Campbell had 9 points and Wyatt Cave had 6 for Triad.

Triad’s 8th graders won, 43-37. Dalton Emans had 19 points and Jordan Simonelli had 10 for Triad.
