Still enrolling for Head Start preschool program in Urbana

0

It’s not too late to get preschool children into the Head Start program. Kids Learning Place is taking applications and is in full swing with the 2015-16 school year. There are a few spaces still available for children to enroll in the classrooms and the home visiting program. Call for information about the no-cost Head Start early education program.

Preschool and early learning is important in the development of young children and Head Start, a federally funded comprehensive program, is one no-cost option. A child must be 3-5 years old and the family must meet federal income guidelines. The program also provides services to children in foster care or who are homeless. The program allocates 10 percent of the slots for children with diagnosed special needs.

Kids Learning Place centers in Urbana have earned a 4 Star “Step Up To Quality” award from the state. This award recognizes early childhood programs that exceed licensing standards. Kids Learning Place classrooms place a major focus on school readiness. Teachers with degrees are in every classroom. There is a research based curriculum, developmental testing and parent participation.
