Hole-in-one wins Trenor Motors auto for Urbana man

A hole-in-one at the 33rd annual Bill Butler Champaign Open in August got Austin Woodruff of Urbana a new car.

“I didn’t see it until I looked in the hole,” he said.

Woodruff aced the #3 par 3 hole at the Urbana Country Club event on Aug. 19 with a seven-iron and a 165-yard drive. The hole is known to be a difficult-to-hit one, where balls easily land but roll off to the bottom of the hill.

The ace netted Woodruff $30,000 toward a brand new Chevy, GMC or Buick vehicle of his choice, awarded by Trenor Motors Inc. After taking some time to decide what he wanted, Woodruff chose a 2015 Chevy Malibu.

Woodruff was an invited guest to play on the Johnson Welded Products team with his uncle T.G. Johnson, dad Michael Woodruff and friend Laren Robisson.

The Bill Butler open is an annual event held by CRSI. Proceeds benefit individuals with developmental disabilities served by the multi-county provider of developmental disabilities services. Next year’s open is scheduled for Aug. 17, 2016.
