Champaign Family YMCA has new Fall/Winter Swim Team

0

The Champaign Family YMCA announced the addition of the Champaign Family Flying Fish Swim Team this Fall/Winter. The Flying Fish will join the North Division of the Southwest Ohio YMCA Swim League to compete against regional YMCAs such as Springfield, Bellefontaine, Sidney-Shelby, and Miami County. Practices and home meets will be held at the Urbana University Grimes Center natatorium, and the inaugural season is slated to start Oct. 12.

An informational parent meeting will be held at the Y at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, to answer questions, provide parent handbooks and to begin the registration process. Interested swimmers should plan to attend free trial practices the week of Oct. 5-8 at Urbana University to try the swim team and see what it’s all about.

The Flying Fish aim to provide each swimmer the opportunity to grow both socially and emotionally while learning the values of team sportsmanship and competition. Through the program, character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect will be practiced and expected of each swimmer and coach.

For more information, attend the parent informational meeting or call Greg Hower, Youth Sports Director, at the YMCA at 937-653-9622.
