COLUMBUS, Ohio – Led by returning NCAA champion Nathan Tomasello and All-American Bo Jordan – a Graham High School graduate – the defending national champion Ohio State wrestling team is ranked No. 2 in the WIN Magazine 2015-16 Preseason Power Index. The Buckeyes have six wrestlers ranked in the top eight of their respective weight classes.

WIN’s individual preseason rankings do not include true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. They are based on weight classes that the wrestlers are expected to compete at but are also subject to change. The Buckeyes totaled 70.5 points in the poll, second only to Oklahoma State (82.0). Other Big Ten teams in the Top 10 include Iowa (No. 3), Penn State (No. 4), Michigan (No. 7) and Illinois (No. 10).

Tomasello is ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds coming off of last year’s Big Ten and NCAA championships. The redshirt sophomore from Parma, Ohio ended the year in a 18-match winning streak on his way to a 33-4 overall mark. At the NCAA Championships, he knocked off top-seeded and previously unbeaten Alan Waters of Missouri in the semifinals, 3-2, and then topped Zeke Moisey of West Virginia in the finals. At the Big Ten Championships, his upset of two-time NCAA champion Jesse Delgado of Illinois propelled the Buckeyes to their first conference crown in 64 years.

At 165 pounds, Jordan is ranked No. 2 behind reigning national champion Alex Dieringer of Oklahoma State.

Jordan, 22-2 last year, was a Big Ten finalist and finished third at the NCAA Championships. He won his first 17 matches of the season, was 11-0 in dual meets and 9-0 against Big Ten competition during the regular season.

After falling to Dieringer in the NCAA semifinals, he came back to win two consolation matches, giving the Buckeyes critical bonus points with a pin in the third-place match against illinois’ Jackson Morse.
