Americans for Prosperity (AFP) honored Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, with its highest honor at its annual Defending the American Dream Summit on Friday. The group awarded Jordan its Washington Award for his commitment to defending and advocating for policies that encourage economic freedom and prosperity.

AFP also honored fellow Congressman and House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) with its Washington Award.

Of receiving the award, Rep. Jordan said:

“I’m honored to receive this award along with my friend and colleague Jeb Hensarling. Americans for Prosperity is a national leader in the fight for economic freedom for all, and has been instrumental in the fight against corporate welfare like the Export-Import Bank. AFP has been a great ally in this effort, and I’m proud to stand with them and Chairman Hensarling in our common defense of the American taxpayer.”

Regarding the award, AFP President Tim Phillips said:

“Congressman Jordan has been a consistent voice in Congress for our issues, and particularly so when it comes to one of our top priorities: battling corporate welfare. As a leader in the House, Jordan helped establish that the Export-Import Bank was little more than corporate welfare, and not worthy of support from limited-government advocates. I want to thank Jim Jordan for taking the tough stances that aren’t often popular in Washington, but that earn the admiration of our millions of Americans for Prosperity volunteers.”
