Champaign County schools are expected to receive $180,656.23 from casino tax revenue this month, according to information released by the Ohio Department of Taxation last week.

The amount is lower than the $181,942.25 county schools received in January.

Through the Ohio Casino Tax Revenue Fund, 34 percent of revenue collected by casinos goes into the Gross Casino Revenue County Student Fund for schools. Casino money is distributed from the student fund to all school districts in the state based on student populations as certified by the Department of Education.

Urbana City Schools received the most money at $50,953.68. The Graham Local School District received $49,838.82, Mechanicsburg Exempted Village received $21,739.56, Triad Local Schools received $20,346, and West Liberty-Salem Local Schools received $14,873.10.

This month’s distribution is the second of two semi-annual school district distributions given this year. Champaign County schools received a total of $1,080,345.07 since the first casino distribution in January 2013.

The total distribution amount for school districts across the state this month is $45,281,117.10.

Fifty-one percent of revenue collected by casinos goes into the Gross Casino Revenue County Fund.

Last month, the county received its lowest amount of money from casino revenue this year at $110,508.06.

The county has received a total of $1,366,606.06 in total distribution money since the quarterly distributions started in July 2012.
