Life of Shawnee chief portrayed

Black Hoof (Rusty Cottrel), a Shawnee Indian, will speak at the Crabill Homestead at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 15 and 16. Cottrel will portray the life of a chief among the Shawnee nation in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The Crabill Homestead is on the banks of the C.J. Brown Reservoir at 2800 Croft Road, Springfield. It will be open 1-3 p.m. for guests to walk through and see how the family might have lived in the 1840s. There is a suggested donation of $5 for visitors 18 and older.
