In the final concert of the 2016-2017 Sunday Series, the Champaign County Arts Council will present the Wittenberg Woodwind Quintet.
The concert will be held at the Arts Council gallery, 119 Miami St., Urbana, at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23.
Tickets are available for $15 at the Arts Council during office hours, Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 pm. Tickets may be purchased online at www.champaigncountyartscouncil.org.
The Wittenberg Woodwind Quintet is composed of the wind faculty members of Wittenberg University in Springfield. The members of the quintet are Lori Akins on flute, Lisa Grove on oboe, Richard York on clarinet, Joseph Hesseman on bassoon, and Colvin Bear on horn. All are members of the Springfield Symphony.
Flutist Lori Akins is the principal flutist of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and flutist and piccoloist with the Columbus Symphony and Ohio Valley Symphony. She has been teaching at Wittenberg since 1982.
Oboist Lisa Grove has been a member of the Springfield Symphony since 1997 and was appointed principal oboe at the beginning of the 2005-2006 season. She began teaching at Wittenberg in 2006.
Clarinetist Richard York has been principal clarinetist of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra over 20 years. He joined the Wittenberg faculty in 1977.
Bassoonist Joseph Hesseman has performed in professional orchestras and bands over 30 years, including the Springfield Symphony. He joined the Wittenberg University faculty in 1997.
Hornist Colvin Bear has been a member of the Springfield Symphony since 1973. He began teaching at Wittenberg in 1983.
The concert is sponsored by The Bohl Family, in Memory of Betsy Bohl, as well as Sally Johnson and Charles and Joan Stadler.
