Powell qualifies for finals in 400 run

LEXINGTON —Three local athletes competed at the Divison II regional track and field preliminaries on Thursday.

Graham’s Tyler Powell qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 400 with a time of 50.86 – good enough for seventh. Powell was also slated to compete in the 200, but earned no time with a DNS.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Graham’s George Bugg was 15th (16.88) and did not qualify for the finals. Urbana’s Nick Johnson was 13th in the 100 (11.45) and did not qualify.

Fansler honored

Urbana’s Andrew Fansler has been named special mention All-CBC in boys tennis.

10-u baseball

Triad beat Markin’s Pump. Garret Kizer and Austin Karg were standouts for Markin’s.
