The 2nd annual Jim Dabbelt Miami Valley Underclass All-Star Game will be held today at Urbana High School.

Forty of the top girls basketball players in the region, ranging from freshmen through juniors, will be participating in what many consider the top underclass all-star event in Ohio.

Two games will be played tonight, with the Division 1-2 game set to begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Division 3-4 game which tips off at 7:30 p.m.

Mechanicsburg’s Kasey Schipfer, a 5-foot-7 freshman, will be playing in the Division 3-4 game.

Seniors from around the Miami Valley who were named to the all-area team will also be recognized in between games.

Throughout the evening, a Fill the Boot raffle will also take place to help with expenses for the family of West Liberty-Salem student Logan Cole, who was wounded in a school shooting back in January. Two Tiger Strong shirts, one signed by the West Liberty-Salem girls basketball team, and another by the 40 girls participating in the game, will be raffled off to a pair of winners.

Also in attendance will be former Major League Baseball pitcher Joe Crawford, who just retired after 13 years as a coach with the Milwaukee Brewers. Crawford will be coaching one of the all-star teams, and will be donating his Brewers game jersey that will also be available to win in the auction.

Admission will be $5 at the door.
