The Urbana University men’s swimming team earned its first win of the season as the Blue Knights split with Lawrence University in Tuesday’s Fun in the Sun Classic, hosted in Venice, Florida.
The UU men came out on top 62.33-38.67 while the women’s team fell short 71-41 against Lawrence.
Individually, Coleston Pope and Aerika Wieser each produced two wins to lead the way for the Blue Knights. Pope touched first in the 50 Fly (24.38) and 100 IM (58.00) while Wieser claimed the fastest time in the 100 IM (1:06.19) and 50 Free (26.31).
Other first-place finishers for UU included Dakota Lewis-Griggs (50 Back – 26.72), Carl Henriksson (50 Breast – 29.01) and Jennifer Schwartz (50 Fly – 28.22).
The Blue Knights return to competition on Jan. 13 in a tri-meet against Malone and Ashland, hosted in Canton, Ohio.

Urbana University has announced that the women’s basketball scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 15 has been postponed. The men’s game versus Wright State-Lake has been moved to 6 p.m. at the Grimes Center.
