SPRINGFIELD – The Clark County Park District offers the following events this month:

Stargaze

All Ages

Davidson Interpretive Center

FREE

Come out to the back patio of our interpretive center for a beautiful view of the night sky. This month, look for the Perseid Meteor Shower. Get the unique opportunity to use a 14 inch telescope to get an up close, personal view. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, insect repellent and some binoculars if you have them. Micro Dragon Hunt

Leadingham Prairie

FREE

Ohio has a huge biodiversity of dragonflies. Search for “dragons” in the Leadingham Prairie and see how many we can find. Wear a hat, sunscreen and bring water. Please call the Clark County Park District to register at 937-882-6000 or register online at www.clarkcountyparks.org.

Night Fishing

Join the Ranger Patrol Division for a fun, family night of fishing. Listen to the sounds of the night, visit with family and friends and catch some fish. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to fish Hosterman Lake at night! Bring your own fishing pole, bait, tackle, insect repellent and lantern or flashlight. Pack some snacks and have a night picnic. Call the Clark County Park District office at 937-882-6000. (Remember: No alcoholic beverages are allowed.) Please place all trash in the trash receptacles before leaving that night. Night Bike Ride

Date: Friday, Aug. 28

Departure Time: 7:30 p.m.

(Depart from South Charleston Station, 147 Mound Street, South Charleston, OH 45368)

Join us for our 3rd night ride of the summer. The ride will depart at 7:30 p.m. from South Charleston Station. The group will travel from South Charleston to Cedarville and back. This ride will end at the Purple Monkey, where riders can enjoy some local food and ice cream. Helmets and bike-mounted lights are required. (Please wear comfortable, close-toed shoes, comfortable clothes for riding and bring bug repellent.) This ride is open to all but those under 18 must be with a responsible adult. No reservation required.

This ride is a collective effort by the Clark County Park District, National Trails Parks & Recreation, and the Ambassadors of Clark County Trails (ACCT).
