SPRINGFIELD – Mercy Health – Springfield announced the completion of a $1 million-plus renovation project to create the Mercy Health – Springfield General & Robotic Surgery and Weight Management practice.

The formerly empty space is now a modern, technologically advanced facility and surgical suite.

Improvements include:

· More than 1,000-square-foot practice dedicated to patient treatment and education including dedicated weight management program area

· Two procedural rooms for minor surgical procedures

· Eleven patient rooms and grand entry lobby

Based on patient demand for minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgery, Mercy Health – Springfield also added two new robotic surgery specialists to its care team, general surgeon Colleen Alexander, MD, and Terry Carman, MD, who will care for surgical and non-surgical weight management patients.

They join general and robotic surgeon Tedros Andom, MD, in the renovated facility, which is also home to the practice of bariatric, general and robotic surgeon Magued Khouzam, MD, certified nurse practitioner Kaylene Blalock and dietitian Jackie Dahlberg.

An open house and ribbon-cutting is scheduled 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1. The facility is in the Mitchell Thomas Building, 100 W. McCreight Ave., Suite 110, Springfield.

Guests can tour the remodeled facility, meet the surgical team, enjoy refreshments and take home souvenirs and informational material.
