WEST LIBERTY — The 16th annual Halloween program, Ghosts & Goblins, Literature to Scare and Delight, will be offered on Thursday, Oct. 26, Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28, at Mac-O-Chee Castle, located two miles east of West Liberty at the intersection of state Routes 245, 287 and county Road 1. The program begins each day at 4:30 p.m. and lasts 90 minutes. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

All can participate in 19th century autumn games, goblin adventures and ghost stories. The theme this year is Mysterious Medicine, featuring stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe. Halloween customs will be shared and participants can experience a dark cellar walk and trick or treat. On Friday and Saturday, a bonfire will be lit, weather permitting.

This program is suitable for school-aged children and for adults. The fee charged of $10 for adults and $5 for 5-15 years old supports literacy projects and has been reduced through a grant from the Mary Eleanor Morris Fund of the Columbus Foundation. This program is not suitable for children under 5 years old.
