Warrant issued against woman in drug case

A capias warrant was issued against a woman facing drug possession charges after a drug overdose.

A journal entry issuing a warrant against Jacqueline F. Altizer was filed in the Champaign County Common Pleas Court Tuesday stating court staff received correspondence from the Tri-County Regional Jail stating she “overdosed on Xanax” and ran from a hospital.

When the journal entry was filed, Altizer was in the Franklin County Jail and was expected to be released from custody Tuesday.

The court suspended Altizer’s personal recognizance bond and ordered for a capias warrant to be issued to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office to apprehend her.

Altizer, 30, was indicted in April on two counts of possession of cocaine, both fifth degree felonies, stemming from a March 21 incident.

On that date, Urbana Fire Division EMTs and officers from the Urbana Police Division responded to the Urbana Inn and Suites, 1490 E. US. Route 36, on a report of an unconscious female in the lobby who had people with her who did not want 911 called.

Altizer was found lying in the lobby on a couch partially unclothed and police learned that prior to their arrival a friend of hers found her lying in the bushes in front of the hotel undressed from the waist down.

Police also learned the people with her had been attempting to perform CPR on her before officers arrived. Altizer was reportedly unconscious and struggling to breathe. She was treated by Urbana Fire Medics and transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital for further medical care.

Previously, Altizer was placed on a personal recognizance bond requiring her to be on electronic monitored house arrest at a Columbus residence. She was also prohibited from having contact with Branson C. Wilkinson.

Wilkinson, 28, was also indicted in April on one count of tampering with evidence, a third degree felony. A grand jury indictment in his case contends Wilkinson allegedly took cocaine from Altizer and hid it in a hallway bathroom.

An arraignment hearing in his case was scheduled for April 18, but Wilkinson failed to appear. A capias warrant for his arrest was issued on the same date.
