Ohio ex-cop’s trial in black driver’s death delayed by 1 day

CINCINNATI (AP) — The trial for a white former University of Cincinnati policeman charged with killing a black motorist has been pushed back a day.

The judge moved the start date for the trial of former officer Ray Tensing to Oct. 25 due to other trials and grand jury proceedings. The judge says the move is necessary because of the large number of people needed for the jury pool.

Authorities say Tensing fatally shot Sam DuBose during a traffic stop last summer. Tensing had pulled DuBose over for a missing front license plate.

Tensing has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and voluntary manslaughter. His attorney has said Tensing feared being dragged under the car as DuBose tried to drive away.
