Ohio unveils iBook highlighting importance in 2016 election

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A new Apple iBook seeks to highlight Ohio’s role in the upcoming presidential election and provides biographical details on eight former presidents who called the state home.

Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO’-sted) joined the book’s creator, Jason LaMar, to unveil “Ohio: Pathway to the Presidency” Tuesday at a Statehouse news conference.

The book is geared toward getting students civically engaged, though Husted says he has no commitments yet from schools planning to use it.

The book is free and best viewed on Apple’s iPad or iPhone.

Readers can see interactive maps, past elections results and historical documents provided by the Ohio History Connection. They also can hear past music from presidential campaigns.

With 18 electoral votes, battleground Ohio is one of the biggest prizes in the presidential election.
