Ohio officials to release July unemployment rate, jobs data

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — State officials are set to unveil Ohio’s unemployment rate and other jobs data for July.

The Friday report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will show job gains and losses across sectors such as construction, manufacturing and health care.

Last July, the state’s jobless rate was 4.7 percent.

The state’s unemployment rate ticked down to 5 percent in June but was up from a year ago.

Ohio sectors that reported job gains in June included construction and manufacturing. Losses were reported in mining and logging and educational and health services.

The nation’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.9 percent last month, unchanged from June.
