Driver hit by stolen car fleeing Cleveland police dies

CLEVELAND (AP) — A man has died after his vehicle was struck by a stolen car fleeing from Cleveland police.

The crash around 3 a.m. Wednesday on the city’s east side killed 63-year-old Romero Brown, of Newburgh Heights.

Cleveland police say Brown had the right of way when his vehicle was struck by the stolen car at an intersection. The collision sent Brown’s car crashing into a bus stop. Brown died at the scene.

Police say the driver of the stolen car fled after the crash. A 23-year-old passenger in the stolen car was jailed for outstanding arrest warrants after being treated for minor injuries.

It’s unclear if police were pursuing the stolen car when the crash occurred.
