Students cry, light candles after Ohio team’s deadly crash

WORTHINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Hundreds of students and parents came together at a high school near Columbus to remember a young woman killed in a crash that injured four members of its water polo team.

The group outside Worthington Kilbourne High School held candles and cried Saturday night.

A van carrying some members of the team hit a semitrailer on Friday in rural northwestern Ohio south of Toledo.

Authorities say the driver of the van failed to yield at the intersection, killing her 19-year-old daughter who was a former member of the team.

The van’s driver along with her two teen daughters and two other girls from suffered serious injuries. They remained in hospitals in Toledo on Saturday.

The team was on its way to a tournament when the crash happened.
