The residents and staff of Vancrest of Urbana Assisted Living celebrated National Assisted Living Week Sept. 10-16.

The week began with massages given by Allie and Audrey from Massage on Monument Square. What a relaxing way to start the week. The group enjoyed a “night at the movies” on Tuesday. The movie, “The Shack,” was shown in the dining room and the smell of fresh popcorn filled the air. The employees served freshly popped popcorn and drinks to those in attendance. Thursday brought a little bit of Hawaii to the facility as the residents enjoyed a luau-themed party. Residents were dressed in Hawaiian shirts and floral leis, sipping on pina colada and strawberry daiquiri “mock tails.” eating “sand pudding” and pineapple while listening to Karaoke by Vickie.

The week ended with “Elvis” in the building. Mason Riley presented his tribute to “Elvis,” a 45-minute concert during which he performed Elvis hits. He was dressed in black leather pants and had dark black hair with those signature “Elvis” sideburns and sunglasses. The ladies (and gentlemen) really enjoyed this one.
