WL-S girls place 23rd at Wayne Invitational

HUBER HEIGHTS – The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field team participated in the two-day Wayne Invitational last Thursday and Friday.

The meet is the largest in the state with over 70 schools competing and the Tigers tied for 23rd place in the overall team results.

Placers for WL-S included the 5th shuttle hurdle relay team of Sophia Hardwick, Claire Longshore, Alaina Irving and Mandilyn Weaver in a school record time of 1:09.99.

The distance medley relay team (13:08.7) and 4×800 (10:10.92) relay team of Ashley Yoder, Mallory Bostick, Teagan Boyd and Megan Adams took home 6th-place finishes.

WL-S boys win

NEW BREMEN – The West Liberty-Salem boys track squad won the 13-team New Bremen Invitational on Friday.

West Liberty-Salem was 1st with 151 points followed by Marion Local with 137.

Placing 1st for the Cardinals were 800- Isaac Brown 2:02.75; 1,600- Dylan Lauck 4:33.39; 3,200- Owen Harrison 10:05.27 and 4×800- Isaac Brown, Dylan Lauck, Quentin Rudolph, and Tate Yoder 8:14.23.

Placing 2nd were 200- Logan Saylor 23.36; 400- Logan Phillips 53.04; 1,600- Tate Yoder 4:35.79; 3,200- Asher Knox 10:05.64; 110 hurdles- Logan Phillips 16.46; 4×400- Dylan Lauck, Isaac Brown, Andrew Kimball and Logan Phillips 3:38.79; high jump- Logan Saylor 5-10 and long jump- Logan Saylor 21-07 (school record).

Placing 3rd were 100- Dylan Glunt 11.67; 200- Dylan Glunt 23.62; 800- Quinten Rudolph 2:05.98; 110 hurdles – Jackson Steider 17.71 and 4×200- Logan Saylor, Logan Phillips, Gabe McGill, Andrew Kimball 1:35.35.

West Liberty-Salem hosts the Tiger Invitational on Friday.

Triad girls 2nd

MECHANICSBURG – The Triad girls track team finished 2nd out of 11 teams at the Mechanicsburg Relays.

Finishing 1st for Triad was the 400 meter hurdles relay team of Cayla Eaton, Ashtyn Millice, Abbey Overfield and Valerie Gaier. Eaton also finished 1st in the high jump (4-10) as did Ellie Johnson in the pole vault (8-6). The 800 sprint medley team consisting of Johnson, Valeria Gaier, Overfield and Eaton was 2nd (2:04.44). The 4×200 relay team finished 3rd (1:59.90) consisting of Overfield, Millice, Tabitha Gaier and Shalyn Smiles. Fourth-place finishers included the 4×100 relay team of Olivia Hall, Valerie Gaier, Tabitha Gaier and Eaton (57.89) and the 4×400 relay team of Tabitha Gaier, Overfield, Millice and Smiles.

The Triad boys finished 7th out of 11 teams.

For Triad, Tyler Gross won the discus (136-7) and finished 3rd in the shot put (39-1.75). Mason Harper was 3rd in the long jump (18-0) and the 800 meter sprint medley team of Mason Harper, Teion Stamman, Logan Harper and Joe Ferguson finished 3rd (1:47.76). The team of Ferguson, Logan Harper, Jacob Haser and Wyatt Robison was 4th in the 4×800 relay (9:51.85).

On Saturday, WL-S hosted the Tiger Junior High Invitational. The Tiger boys tied with Graham for 5th place out of 9 teams

WL-S’s 4×800 relay team – Caleb Larson, Dylan King, Taryn Bradley, Brevin Louden – placed first in 9:28.58 (school record).

Top finishers for the Graham boys were Sam Dunn second in the 100 meter dash (12.28) and discus (104-5) and Garrett Wallen second in the 1,600 meter run (5;04.63) and the 800 meter run (2:22.39).

The Tiger girls team finished in 3rd place.

Placing first for the Tigers were the 4×800 relay team – Gwen McCullough, Mariska Smith, Mylee Dooley, Breece Gullett 11:16.05; 200 – Elise Longshore 28.87 and long jump – Chloe Griffith 14-2.

Top finishers for the Graham girls were Ivy Hatfield third in the high jump (4-2) and the 4×200 meter relay team of Bailey Zimmerman, Ava Wilson, Ella Putterbaugh and Hatfield third (2:14.12).

No other results were reported.

The Urbana girls and boys teams each won the 31st annual Urbana Junior High Track Classic on Saturday, but no other results were reported.
