Triad nips West Liberty-Salem in baseball

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad nipped WL-S, 3-2, in OHC baseball on Friday.

For the Cardinals, Drue Instine was 2 for 2.

On Saturday, Triad held off Greeneview, 5-4, in OHC action.

For the Cardinals (4-11, 4-7), Ayden Spriggs and Michael Warner each had 2 hits.

Indians go 1-1

MILFORD CENTER – Fairbanks topped Mechanicsburg, 6-2, in OHC baseball on Friday.

For the Indians, Jake Edwards was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

On Saturday, Mechanicsburg beat Cedarvolle, 5-0, in OHC action.

For M’burg (12-3, 8-3), Tyler Hennigan was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, Jake Edwards had a double and 2 RBI and Fisher Morgan earned the win.

UHS loses

Visiting Jonathan Alder beat Urbana, 11-4, in CBC baseball on Friday.

For UHS, Braeden Stambaugh and Riley Wilson were each 2 for 3.

Graham falls

ST. PARIS – Bellefontaine topped Graham, 9-4, in CBC baseball on Friday.

On Saturday, the Falcons lost at Piqua, 1-0.

WL-S jayvees

The West Liberty-Salem jayvee baseball team beat Triad, 10-2, on Friday. For the Tigers, Adam Stapleton was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base, Caleb Hershberger had 2 RBI and Owen Deere doubled. Seven Tiger pitchers combined to pitch 7 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 11.

On Saturday, the WL-S jayvees beat Northeastern, 12-2. For the Tigers, Peyton Hull was 2 for 2 with a double, 3 RBI and 3 stolen bases, Hershberger was 2 for 2 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases, Jacob Evans doubled and had an RBI and Nick Shifflet had a single and 2 RBI. Dylan Wing earned the win.
