Triad boys knock off Lehman Catholic, 55-43

SIDNEY — Triad defeated Lehman Catholic, 55-43, on Monday in non-league boys basketball.

Hadley LeVan 19 points, Ryan Boyd added 17 and Colby Watson chipped in 11 for the Cardinals.

Triad (16-6) plays Riverside at Piqua in the sectional tournament on Saturday at Piqua High School at 5:30 p.m.

Indians fall at home

MECHANICSBURG — Northwestern defeated Mechanicsburg, 64-49, in non-league boys basketball on Monday.

Mack Cushman scored 19 points for the Indians and Bobby Welch added 10.

The Indians dipped into an 18-8 hole after a quarter and could never recover.

Northwestern won the jayvee game, 77-29. Joey Mascadri had 9 points for M’burg.

Mechanicsburg plays Fort Loramie on Friday at 7 p.m. at Piqua High School in the Division IV sectional tournament.

WL-S shines at Tiffin meet

TIFFIN – The West Liberty-Salem indoor track and field team participated in the Tiffin University High School Meet Sunday afternoon at Hemminger Field House.

The Lady Tigers had six top-eight placers including the first place 4×800 (10:45) and 4×400 (4:35) relay teams of Reghan Bieleski, Caylee Karg, Leah Cole and Katie Hartsel. Also placing for WL-S were Cole 4th in the 800 (2:37.28), Katelyn Stapleton 5th in the 1,600 (6:02.72), Karg 6th in the 60 meter hurdles (10.91) and Hartsel in the 1,600 (6:26.64).

For the boys, Michael Conley placed 11th in both the 1,600 (5:01.23) and 800 (2:22) meter runs, and Isaac Smith placed 28th in the 1,600 (5:28.04) and 17th in the 800 (2:31.58).

WL-S will compete in the Bowling Green State University Dave Wottle Invitational on Feb. 21.
