The annual Ned Garver/Dick LeBeau Legends Golf Classic at Mitchell Hills Club in Springfield was a big hit on Saturday.
For the second straight year, Urbana resident Bill Huffman was part of the winning team, which was led by 1964 Olympic gold medal basketball player George Wilson.
The affable LeBeau played two holes with each group, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
The shots of the day included LeBeau knocking in an eagle from 45 yards on the par-4 7th hole and Wilson with an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole from 40 yards out.
Wilson was so excited, he autographed the golf ball he used and donated it to Mitchell Hills for display.
Saturday’s event at Mitchell Hills benefited the United Way of Clark, Champaign and Madison Counties.

Former Cincinnati Bengals’ All-Pro safety David Fulcher gave an emotional introduction of LeBeau during Saturday night’s banquet.
LeBeau noted during his speech that Fulcher’s blitzing abilities as a safety allowed him to begin the zone-blitz defense that almost every NFL team uses today.
“It all started with ‘Fo-Rock,’” LeBeau said.
Fulcher played under LeBeau – the defensive coordinator in Cincinnati – from 1986-91.
In other David Fulcher news … he will be the head football coach at Cincinnati Christian University for its inaugural season in 2016.
