Graham wrestling wins CBC; Indians take OHC

Graham won the CBC wrestling tournament for the 23rd consecutive year Saturday, scoring 329.5 points. Urbana was fourth with 128.5 points.

Graham crowned champions with Jordan Crace (106 pounds), Jeffrey Thomas (113), Justin Stickley (120), Mitch Moore (126), Ryan Thomas (132), Brent Moore (138), Rocky Jordan (145), Garrett Jordan (160), Alex Marinelli (170), Gage Braun (182) and Johnny Shafer (220).

Marinelli was also named the league’s most outstanding wrestler.

Joey Sanchez (152) and Kavan Sarver (195) took second place, with Brandon Hays (285) earning sixth.

Urbana got a title from Jack Harris at 195 pounds.

UHS’s Cameron Miley (126), Braeden Lehman (138) and Zack Michael (182) earned third place. Gavyn Grim (120), Ezra Lee (132) and Jack DeLong (285) were fourth. Mitchell Moyer (145) and Timmy Sidders (160) earned fifth place.

Indians win OHC championship

West Liberty-Salem, Triad and Mechanicsburg competed at the OHC wrestling championships at Triad on Saturday.

Mechanicsburg won the title, crowning 10 champions.

Tyler Wetzel (113), Alex Rhine (120), Sam Rozmus (126), Nick Miller (132), Tanner Smith (138), Wade Smiddy (145), Kaleb Romero (160), Alex Walton (182), Michael Knapp (195) and Dylan Hartman (285) each earned a first-place finish.

Corey Bogan (152) and Dustin Knapp (170) each took second place, while Dylan Hartley (220) was third and David Maxwell (106) was fourth.

For WL-S, Tanner Workman finished second at 126 pounds, with Ely Serna finishing third at 170 pounds.

No other results were reported.

Junior high wrestling

West Liberty-Salem’s Zayne Reed earned an OHC championship at 172 pounds on Saturday, finishing his season with a 25-3 record.
