Urbana University head men’s golf coach Anthony Monaco has announced the signing of Martin Trochu to the Blue Knight incoming class of 2019-20.

Trochu, a native of La teste-de-buch, France, will bring experience to the Blue Knight lineup following a highly successful youth career.

“I couldn’t be happier with the signing of Martin Trochu,” Monaco said. “He’ll bring a lot to the table here at Urbana. His talent and work ethic will make an immediate impact for our program, but more importantly, his high character and personality will be a perfect fit for the UU community.”

An all-region performer and 2016 Aquitaine’s regional champion, Trochu racked up division championships in 2016 and 2017.

This past playing season, he scored 31 rounds of 74 or lower including half of those going for 72 or lower.

Trochu played well in several tournaments, including a second-place finish at the Grand Prix of Lacanau and fourth place at The Arcachon Open. He also was a finalist at the French Amateur Championship and missed the cut by one stroke at the prestigious Boys Amateur Championship in the United Kingdom.

He is the son of Sébastien and Axelle Trochu and has one older brother. He plans on studying business finance while attending Urbana University.
