Urbana University head softball coach Kira Zeiter announced Thursday the signing of Kayleigh Pate (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg HS).

Pate will begin attending Urbana University at the start of the 2017-18 academic season.

“Kayleigh is an exciting addition to our program,” Zeiter said. “She is a triple threat; she brings talent in the circle, in the field and at the plate. We can’t wait to welcome Kayleigh to the Blue Knight family.”

Pate, who played in a utility role for coach Keith Brown at Brownsburg, finished her high school career with impressive numbers. In the circle, she amassed 362 strikeouts in 345 innings pitched with an outstanding 2.54 earned-run average. Pate also slugged .663 at the dish and swiped 23 bags on the base paths.

Off the field, Pate earned a spot on the Dean’s List and received an academic letter all four years at Brownsburg. She was also active in the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society.

Pate plans to study exercise science at UU.
