Graham girls 2nd at CBC meet

NEW CARLISLE – The Central Buckeye Conference track and field championships were contested on Friday, with Graham’s boys finishing fourth in the Mad River Division and Urbana finishing fifth in the Kenton Trail Division. For the girls, Graham finished second in the Mad River and Urbana was fifth in the Kenton Trail.

Winning events for the girls were Kayla Tullis (GHS, discus), Aubry Gale (GHS, pole vault) and Taylor White (GHS, 800).

Taking second were Holly Kamper (GHS, 1,600), Carly Carafa (GHS, 200) and the Graham 4×400 relay team.

Earning third were Tori Crabtree (GHS, long jump) and Kamper (GHS, 3,200).

Winning for the boys were Tyler Powell (GHS, 400) and the Graham 4×400 relay team.

Earning second were Graham’s 4×100 relay team, George Bugg (GHS, 110 hurdles) and John Cordle (UHS, shot put).

Taking third were Bugg (GHS, 300 hurdles), Nick Johnson (UHS, 100), Graham’s 4×200 relay team and Zach Caudill (GHS, 200).

UHS tennis

The Urbana boys tennis team completed its season Friday at the Troy sectional. Nobody from UHS advanced to Saturday’s final four.

Hudson Stouffer beat Harley Geisel from Northridge, 6-0, 6-0.

Hudson Stouffer then lost to Daniel Dietrick from Shawnee, 6-0, 6-0.

Cole Headlee lost to Brandon Strokes from Northeastern, 6-3, 6-2.

Andrew Fansler and Bailey Ullah lost to Steve Ritze and Ron Goettmoeller from Sidley Lehman, 6-2, 6-0.

Alex Swank and Ethan Burnside beat Tanner Brown and Chris Hile from Shawnee by default.

Alex Swank and Ethan Burnside then lost to Jake Boop and Matt Yeager, 6-1, 6-0.

JH track

The West Liberty-Salem junior high girls track team placed first in 14 events and set 4 records at the OHC Meet. Team scores were West Liberty-Salem 164, Fairbanks 67, Mechanicsburg 30, Triad 23 and Springfield Catholic Central 8.

Placing first for WL-S were Grace Estes, 100 Hurdles (16.41) OHC and school record, 200 Hurdles (30.32) OHC and school record, 200 M (27.46) Kaylee LeVan, 100 M (13.57), Long Jump (13-9.5) Katelyn Stapleton, 1,600 M (5:21.39) OHC and school record, 800 M (2:26.65) OHC record, 400 M (1:02.90) Anna McGill, Shot (33-6.5) Discus (96-6), Madison Bahan, Pole Vault (7- 0) 4 X 100, Hannah Bowman, Makena Gardner, Emily Scott, LeVan (57.40) 4 X 200, Bowman, Gardner Mandilyn Weaver, Hallie Smith (2:04.98) 4 X 400, Bahan, Megan Adams, Selena Weaver, Smith (4:36.66).

13-u softball

Triad beat JWP, 13-6.

Standouts for JWP were Cadence Daniels, Madison Harvel, Maddie Jenkins and Sara Thompson.

Graham’s George Bugg has excelled at the hurdles all season. He won last week at a home meet (pictured) and took home a second and a third at the conference championships held Friday.
