Visiting Wheeling Jesuit scored eight runs combined over the fourth and fifth innings in defeating Urbana University, 14-5, in MEC softball on Sunday.
With the loss, UU is now 16-26 overall and 12-20 in the MEC. Wheeling Jesuit improves to 23-23, 17-15.
Carly Allen took the loss for the Blue Knights to drop to 11-16 for the season.
For UU, Caitlyn Stoner was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Jenna VanHoose and Mykee Holtz were 2 for 3.
Triad baseball wins
NEW CARLISLE – Triad defeated Tecumseh, 8-6, in non-league baseball on Friday night.
For the Cardinals (16-3, 11-0 OHC), Dustin Bruce was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Trevor Instine was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI.
WL-S jayvees prevail
West Liberty-Salem beat Miami East, 7-3, in jayvee baseball. Jacob Vanhorn was the winning pitcher with 8 strikeouts. Tevon McNutt was 2-for-2 with a triple, Ethan Larson was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and Vanhorn was 2-for-4.
In a game earlier last week, the Tigers lost to Triad, 6-0.
