Urbana tops Shawnee in baseball

Urbana defeated Shawnee, 2-1, in CBC baseball on Tuesday.

Caleb Peterson surrendered a run in the top of the first, but buckled down and scattered five hits in a complete-game effort with 10 strikeouts.

Brayden Fain was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Urbana, while Kaleb Bowdle was 1-for-3.

Urbana (10-9) plays at Greenon on Thursday.

M’burg baseball

Mechanicsburg split a pair of games with Fairbanks in OHC baseball on Tuesday, losing 4-2 before winning 9-2. The first contest was a continuation from earlier in the season.

Corey Bogan got the win in the second game, also going 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI. Caleb Newsome was 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI and Keane Dunn was 3-for-4.

M’burg (11-6) hosts Catholic Central on Friday.

M’burg softball splits

Mechanicsburg split a pair of games with Fairbanks in OHC softball on Tuesday, losing 8-7 in nine innings before winning, 16-8. The first contest was a continuation from earlier in the season.

In the first contest, Francys King was 4-for-4 and Jessica Maddux had a double and 2 RBI for the Indians.

In the second game, Elysha Stapleton was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI, Mary Mayo was 4-for-5 with 4 RBI, Bella Link was 2-for-3 and Kasey Schipfer had 2 RBI.

Mechanicsburg (7-9) plays at Kenton Ridge on Thursday.

Triad baseball wins

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad defeated Catholic Central, 10-0, in six innings of OHC baseball on Tuesday.

Jacob Greve was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Trevor Instine was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, Isaiah Bruce was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Dustin Bruce was 2-for-4 for the Cardinals.

Briley Harlan got the win, scattering three hits with six strikeouts.

Triad (13-3, 9-0 OHC) plays at West Liberty-Salem today.

Triad softball wins

NORTH LEWISBURG – Abby Ehrenborg had two home runs as Triad defeated Springfield Catholic Central, 14-0, in OHC softball on Tuesday.

For the Cardinals, Maddi Collier earned the win, Madison Dolby was 3 for 3 with a triple and Ali Dixon was 2 for 2 with a triple.

Triad (11-10, 7-3) hosts Ridgemont today.

WL-S softball prevails

WL-S defeated Cedarville, 18-1, in OHC softball. Sydnee Payer recorded the win for the Tigers, Mady Stratton was 3-for-3 with a triple, double and 5 RBI, Kiana Reames was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Kelsey Day was 2-for-2.

WL-S (13-4, 10-1) plays at Tecumseh today.

WL-S baseball wins

WL-S beat Cedarville, 11-8, in OHC baseball on Tuesday.

The Tigers exploded in a 7-run inning in the 3rd with 3 singles, 2 doubles and a triple. The Tigers added one in the 5th and 2 in the 6th. Thomas Allen started the 6th off with a triple and later scored on a double by Trevor Burden.

Cougars top Falcons

Kenton Ridge beat Graham, 8-2, in CBC baseball on Tuesday.

For the Falcons, Josh Lewis was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Mark Ward was 2-for-2.

UHS tennis falls

Urbana beat Bellefontaine, 4-1, in CBC boys tennis.

At first singles, Andrew Fansler beat Hunter Karg.

At second singles, Abe Angles beat Maurice Calton, 6-4, 6-1.

At third singles, Trevor Johnson beat Aiden Hartley, 6-0, 6-1.

At first doubles, Cole Headlee and Ethan Headlee lost to Kasey Middaug and Cam Neer 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

And at second doubles, Hudson Stouffer and Alex Swank beat Ben Sailors and Reese Schmidt, 6-1, 6-0.

Urbana’s Sidney Easter tries to make a play after taking a hopping ball to the throat on Tuesday against Shawnee. Easter would stay in the game after being examined. The final score was not reported by press time.
