Tigers top Indians in softball

WEST LIBERTY – WL-S beat Mechanicsburg, 7-1, on Monday in OHC softball.

Kelsey Day was the winning pitcher and Elysha Stapleton took the loss.

For WL-S, Kelby Strapp was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Kenedie Cox, Day, Hallie Strapp, Kiana Reames and Dierdre McGill each added a hit.

The Tigers will host Triad on Friday.

UHS softball wins

Urbana defeated Miami East, 7-2, in non-league softball on Monday in a rain-shortened five-inning game.

Sidney Easter went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Urbana, Kaylee Moffitt was 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored and Cassidy James was 2-for-2.

Hannah Alvoid threw a complete game, striking out six batters across five innings and allowing only two hits.

Urbana (1-3) hosts Northwestern today.

GHS softball wins

Graham defeated Benjamin Logan, 6-4, in CBC/MRD softball on Monday in a rain-shortened game.

For GHS, Adrianna Hicks was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Madison Bryant was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Mackenzie Smith was 2-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI and Skylar Doroda had a double.

Bryant also struck out 10 in the circle across six innings pitched.

Graham (4-0, 1-0 CBC) plays at Benjamin Logan today.

Triad beats Greeneview

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad defeated Greeneview, 3-2, in OHC softball on Monday.

The Rams jumped on the board with a pair of runs in the first, but Triad scored two in the sixth to take a one-run lead and then hung on.

Abby Ehrenborg was 2-for-2 with a triple, Kendell Hughes had a double and Brianna Eaton had a double for THS.

Triad (2-4, 2-1 OHC) goes on the road to Catholic Central on Tuesday.

THS baseball wins

Triad defeated Greeneview, 11-1, in OHC baseball on Monday.

Dustin Bruce was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, Briley Harlan was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Jacob Greve was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Isaiah Bruce was 1-for-2 for THS.

Triad plays at Catholic Central on Tuesday.

UHS tennis wins

Urbana beat Greenon, 5-0, in boys tennis on Monday.

At first singles, Andrew Fansler defeated Brady Whittaker, 6-0, 6-0.

At second singles, Bailey Ullah beat Owen Leathly, 6-2, 6-1.

At third singles, Abe Angles beat Matthew Barton, 6-3, 6-0.

At first doubles, Cole Headlee and Hudson Stouffer beat Riley Farrel and David Klump, 6-1, 6-0.

And at second doubles, Nick Pettit and Alex Swank beat Brennon Mason and Taggart Fox, 6-1, 6-0.

The reserves played but did not finish due to rain.

UHS (2-2) plays at Bellefontaine today.

Jayvee baseball

West Liberty-Salem beat Triad, 12-0, in jayvee baseball on Monday.

Jacob VanHorn struck out seven batters across three innings of work and Drew Buroker had four strikeouts in two innings for WL-S.

WL-S hosts Bellefontaine on Tuesday.
