Northeastern teams sweep Mechanicsburg

SPRINGFIELD – Mechanicsburg fell to Northeastern, 2-0, in OHC baseball on Thursday.

Matt Myers was 2-for-3 and Logan Hurst was 1-for-3 for the Indians (2-2).

Caleb Newsome pitched five innings, but took the loss despite 10 strikeouts.

“He pitched real well, we just didn’t get the timely hits,” MHS Coach Bryan Eyink said.

Indians’ softball loses

SPRINGFIELD – Northeastern defeated Mechanicsburg, 5-3, in OHC softball on Thursday.

Kasey Schipfer had a double and an RBI, Elysha Stapleton was 2-for-2 and Meagan Hux had a double and an RBI for the Indians.

M”burg (0-3, 0-2 OHC) plays at Kenton Ridge today in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Fairbanks tops Triad

MILFORD CENTER – Fairbanks scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Triad, 5-4, in OHC softball on Thursday.

Maddy Collier took the loss for the Cardinals (1-3, 1-1), who host Indian Lake on Friday.

Falcons beat Versailles

Graham defeated Versailles, 7-0, in non-league softball on Thursday.

Madison Bryant continued her hot start to the season, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and 2 RBI. Bryant also threw all seven innings, striking out 14 while allowing just two hits.

Ashton Curnutte was 3-for-4 for the Falcons and Delila Meyers was 2-for-3. Adrianna Hicks, Mackenzie Smith and Skylar Duroda each went 1-for-2 for GHS.

Graham (2-0) hosts Triad on Saturday.

WL-S jayvee baseball

WL-S lost to Bellefontaine, 4-1. Cayden Whitman pitched 3 innings giving up 3 runs, 1 earned.
