CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Charleston defeated Urbana University, 76-62, Wednesday night in the opening round of the Mountain East Conference men’s basketball tournament.

Charleston led, 36-26, at the half.

For UU (12-17), Jahmere Howze had 18 points and 18 rebounds, DeQuan Abron had 14 points and Carlas Jackson added 12.

WL-S time change

The WL-S/Badin Division III girls basketball district final has been moved to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Springfield High School.

The WL-S boys basketball end-of-season awards banquet will be held Tuesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. Parents are asked to bring a dessert to share.
