Urbana boys win district bowling title

Urbana qualified for state by winning the Division II boys district bowling tournament at Beaver-Vu Lanes. Graham was third and also qualified for state, while Mechanicsburg was eighth.

Among athletes who bowled three games for Urbana, Andru Troyer won the tournament with a 201-245-205/651 series. Taylor Armstrong was 3rd (595), Luc Russell was 4th (587) and Kyle Beavers was 15th (528).

For Graham, Brady Oder was 8th with a 153-231-172/556. Nate Evans was 19th (522), Emerson Bruce was 33rd (490) and Dalton Oder was 34th (489).

For Mechanicsburg, Jake Ripley was 21st with a 210-176-130/516. Caleb Westfall was 31st (493) and David McMahill was 55th (441).

In the girls tournament, Mechanicsburg finished second to advance to the state competition. Graham was fifth.

Triad did not field a team, but Madison Dolby finished 2nd as an individual with a 210-207-174/591 and will bowl at state. Urbana’s Kayla Evans was 7th and just missed qualifying with a 193-152-164/509, while teammate Sarrah Baldwin was 18th with a 462. West Liberty-Salem’s Erica McCall was 31st with a 135-153-147/435.

For Mechanicsburg, Ally Hosier was 5th with a 166-166-182/514. Miranda Keene was 9th (501), Madison Boggs was 14th (478), Amanda Coulter was 27th (445) and Skyler Herron was 38th (418).

For Graham, Erica Atwood was 11th with a 188-151-150/489. Kaitlyn VanHoose was 19th (460), Libby Hennings was 23rd (454) and Olivia VanHoose was 51st (397).
