Underwood leads Urbana to win over Carroll

DAYTON – Jordan Underwood scored a game-high 20 points as Urbana beat Carroll, 60-48, in the Flying to the Hoop boys basketball tourney on Saturday.

UHS (9-4) led, 28-15, at the half after holding Carroll (8-6) to only two points in the second quarter.

Tigers win

West Liberty-Salem defeated Northeastern, 49-47, Friday night in OHC boys basketball. Kannon Stillings scored 20 points to lead the Tigers, while Tyler Louden and Austin Miller each added 12 points.

The Tigers won the jayvee game, 44-34. Cody King scored 16 points for WL-S.

The Jets won the freshman game, 39-33, in overtime. Alex Fitzpatrick scored 13 points for WL-S.

WL-S beat Benjamin Logan on Saturday, 68-51. Louden had 15 points, Miller had 14, Ross Kelley had 11, Stillings had 11 and Dillon Callicoat scored 10 for WL-S.

The jayvee Tigers beat Ben Logan, 41-29. Cody King scored 10 points, with Trevor Burden and Adam Schultz each adding 8 for WL-S.

The Tiger freshmen beat the Raiders, 47-38. Kasey Kite scored 14 points, with Dominic Blair and Alex Fitzpatrick each scoring 12 for WL-S.

Triad falls to Russia

Russia beat Triad, 53-42, in non-league boys basketball on Saturday. Ryan Boyd and Alec Ober each scored 9 points to lead the Cardinals.

Junior high basketball

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys basketball team beat Miami View, 44-18. Lance Baldwin led the Tigers with 16 points while Nick Burden added 12.

The WL-S 8th graders won, 59-31. The Tigers’ offense was led by Ethan Cole with 23 points.

Junior high wrestling

West Liberty-Salem participated at the Urbana Pete Rozmus Invitational on Saturday.

Zayne Reed finished 4th at 172 pounds. He was 4-1 in the tournament, and was unable to compete in the third-place match due to a match limitation. He is now 22-2 on the season.
