WL-S girls improve to 16-1 overall

West Liberty-Salem defeated Catholic Central, 55-24, in OHC girls basketball.

Mikalia McIntosh had 11 points, Lily Yoder scored 10 and Taylor Lauck had 10 for the Tigers (16-1, 9-0).

In the freshman game, Versailles beat WL-S, 42-21. Cheyenne Gluckle and Peyton Kerns each had 4 points for WL-S.

Urbana girls fall

Northwestern defeated Urbana, 65-51, in CBC girls basketball on Saturday.

Hunter Rogan had 28 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and Alaina Lyons had 14 points for UHS.

Triad girls lose

North Union defeated Triad, 90-29, in non-league girls basketball.

Triad was shut out, 29-0, in the first quarter.

“But my girls haven’t quit all year, and we didn’t today,” Triad Coach Jeff Merklin said. “Our programs are simply, and obviously, at different levels right now.”

Tori Thomas scored 11 points for Triad – 9 in the second quarter. Alea Ferguson had 10 points.

Graham girls lose

Graham fell to Shawnee, 63-58, in overtime of a CBC girls basketball game Saturday.

Kayla Tullis had 15 points, Bethany Horner had 12 and Katy Nash scored 12 for GHS.

“I’m very proud of the way the girls came together tonight and played their hearts out,” Graham Coach Steve Flora said.

Triad boys split

Triad beat Yellow Springs, 60-55, in non-league boys basketball on Saturday.

Hadley LeVan had 24 points to lead the Cardinals, while Jevin Edley and Thomas O’Neal each had 13 points.

Triad won the jayvee game, 45-31. Jordan Fyffe had 12 points.

Northwestern beat Triad, 47-32, in 9th grade action. Tate Campbell had 12 points for the Cardinals.

Fort Loramie beat Triad, 56-39, in non-league boys basketball on Friday.

Alec Ober and LeVan each had 15 points for the Cardinals.

Fort Loramie won the jayvee and freshman games.

Tigers boys win

Visiting West Liberty-Salem held off Fairbanks, 69-60, in OHC boys basketball on Friday.

The Tigers led by only two points heading into the fourth quarter.

For WL-S (10-6, 4-5), Kannon Stillings had 20 points and Dillon Callicoat added 13.

Fairbanks won the jayvee game, 37-36. Cody King had 11 points for the Tigers.

WL-S won the 9th grade game game, 42-35. Trevor Woodruff had 18 points for the Tigers.

JH basketball

Graham beat Shawnee, 37-28, in 8th grade girls basketball. Lexi King had 15 points for GJHS.

West Liberty-Salem lost to Catholic Central, 31-29, in 7th grade boys basketball. Owen Johnson had 7 points for the Tigers.

All 11 players scored as WL-S beat Northeastern, 48-8, in the first round of OHC 8th grade girls tournament play. Emily Hollar had 10 points, Aubrey Williams added 8 points, Braxton Givens had 7 rebounds and Mandilyn Weaver had 8 rebounds for the Tigers.
