Rogan leads Urbana to victory over Chieftains

BELLEFONTAINE – Hunter Rogan had 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals as Urbana held off Bellefontaine, 58-54, Wednesday night in CBC/KTD girls basketball.

The Hillclimbers jumped out to a 22-9 lead in the first quarter and led, 26-20, at the half.

For UHS, Bridget Ofori had 14 points and 9 rebounds, Deserae Johnson had 7 rebounds, Alaina Lyons had 8 points and Madisyn Horn added 7 points,

Bellefontaine won the jayvee game, 29-27. Marissa Horn had 12 points for UHS.

M’burg girls win

RIDGEWAY – Mikayla Dodane had a game-high 20 points as Mechanicsburg knocked off Ridgemont, 63-56, in girls basketball.

Ridgemont led, 15-12, at the end of the first quarter, but the Indians rallied to take a 29-24 lead at the half.

Mechanicsburg owned a 49-37 lead after three periods.

For the Indians, Morgan Hamby had 14 points and 17 rebounds and Kasey Schipfer added 11 points.

Ridgemont won the jayvee game, 47-35. Morgan Hamby had 9 points for the Indians.

Triad girls lose

Greeneview knocked off Triad, 70-23, on Wednesday in OHC girls basketball.

“It’s a tough thing right now,” Triad Coach Jeff Merklin said. “We’re in a very tough conference and although we’ve really got good kids who don’t quit, our program obviously has a long way to go.”

Alea Ferguson had 9 points and Tori Thomas added 9 rebounds for the Cardinals (3-12, 2-7).

M’burg boys fall

Cedarville beat Mechanicsburg, 68-60, in OHC boys basketball.

For Mechanicsburg, Joey Mascadri had 25 points, Chris Taylor had 14, Mack Delong had 11 amd Logan Hurst added 8.

Mechanicsburg won the jayvee game, 23-21.

Game rescheduled

The WL-S boys basketball game vs. Northeastern that was cancelled last Friday is rescheduled for Monday, Jan 30. The freshman game will start at 4:45 p.m.. All former and current military personnel will be allowed free entry that night and a short recognition prior to the start of the varsity game will be held.

JH basketball

In 8th grade girls basketball, Triad beat Central, 34-27. For Triad, Frani LeVan had 10 points, Cati LeVan and Baylie Plank had 7 points each and Joni Russell added 6 points and 11 rebounds.

Triad’s 8th grade boys topped Central, 40-28. For Triad, JC Alexander had 7 points, Wyatt Cave had 6, Drew Campbell had 6 and Jalen Nott had 6.

Central won the 7th grade boys game, 31-17. For Triad, Gage Phillips had 6 points and Jesse Bailey had 5.
