WL-S will induct three into Hall of Fame

The West Liberty-Salem Athletic Hall of Fame committee has announced the 2017 induction class: Emerson Brown, Wayne Ropp and Abbey Ledford-Thompson will be honored at the basketball game on Friday, Feb. 10 and then formally inducted at a banquet Saturday night, Feb. 11 at the Urbana Christian Conference center.

Banquet tickets are $30 and on sale at the following locations until Feb. 7: the school office, the athletic office and at Hair Kare N’ Tan in West Liberty.

Military appreciation

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has designated Jan. 20 as Military Appreciation Night. The Urbana and Indian Lake athletic departments have decided to honor those who are serving and those who have served in the military.

That evening at the boys Urbana vs. Indian Lake basketball game, any person showing a valid military ID will be admitted to the game for free. Also, the first 50 UHS students who show up for the game that evening (must enter through the main gym lobby gate) will receive a free Military Camo t-shirt.

Black shines for ONU

BEREA – Senior Britt Lauck scored 22 points and junior Amy Bullimore added 14 to lead the the No. 10/14 ranked Ohio Northern women’s basketball team to a 60-55 victory at Baldwin Wallace Wednesday night at Ursprung Gymnasium.

Junior Lindsey Black (Graham High School) made a pair of free throws with 18 seconds left to put ONU ahead 58-52 and she made two more with six seconds left to ice the game.

In 8th grade girls basketball, Triad beat Mechanicsburg, 42-34. For Triad, Frani LeVan had 25 points and 5 rebounds, Cati LeVan had 10 points and 4 rebounds, Baylie Plank had 6 points and 4 rebounds and Abby Walls added 9 rebounds.
