WL-S girls secure another OHC victory

WEST LIBERTY – WL-S defeated Southeastern, 46-41, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday. The win improved the Tigers to 11-1 (6-0 OHC) on the season.

Mikalia McIntosh had 12 points and Gabby Hollar added 11 for the Tigers.

In the jayvee contest, WL-S won, 35-16. Mya King and Camrin Rice each scored 7 points.

Cardinals fall on road

CEDARVILLE – Cedarville defeated Triad, 71-27, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

“Cedarville is talented and has good size and they play the game extremely well,” THS Coach Jeff Merklin said.

Cedarville led, 19-7, after a quarter and 36-10 at the half.

Alea Ferguson scored 14 points to lead the Cardinals and Tori Thomas chipped in 7 rebounds.

In the jayvee game, Cedarville won, 32-10. Shelby Sheets had 5 points and Kayleigh Boldman had 9 steals for the Cardinals.

Triad falls to 3-10, 2-5 with the loss.

Urbana loses to Cougars

Kenton Ridge topped Urbana, 84-47, in CBC/KTD girls basketball on Saturday.

The Cougars raced out to a 43-27 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Hunter Rogan had 18 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss for Urbana. Bridget Ofori had 10 points and Alaina Lyons added 8.

M’burg boys win

MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg edged Ridgemont, 56-51, in boys basketball Saturday to get its first win of the season and Coach Tyler Craig’s first career victory.

The Indians held a 50-35 lead going into the final quarter and held off a Gophers’ rally to claim the victory.

Chris Taylor had a career-high 28 points in the win, while Logan Hurst added 10 for the Indians.

“I couldn’t be more proud of a group of young men who never stop competing and putting forth their best effort,” Craig said.

Graham boys fall

ST. PARIS – Ponitz defeated Graham, 81-68, in boys basketball on Saturday night.

Andrew Ford had 24 points to lead the Falcons in defeat, while Brevan King added 14.

Ponitz led by just a point at halftime, but roared away out of the intermission and held off a Graham comeback effort in the fourth.

The Falcons fall to 3-8 on the season.

Graham girls lose

Benjamin Logan defeated Graham, 51-38, in CBC/MRD girls basketball on Saturday.

Bethany Horner had 14 points and Sarah Flora scored 7 for Graham.

The Raiders won the jayvee game, 44-36. Madi Vanscoy had 13 points in that contest and Katey Nash had 9.

JH basketball

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys basketball team lost to Anna, 40-29. Isaac Brown had 7 points and Owen Johnson scored 6.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys basketball team lost to Anna, 45-43, in overtime. Nick Burden had 17 points, Jace Wade had 10 and Tanner LeVan had 8.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls basketball team lost to Anna, 45-27. Emily Hollar had 12 points and 8 steals, while Aubrey Williams had 5 points and 6 rebounds.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade girls basketball team lost to Anna, 32-25. Selena Weaver had 8 points and 11 rebounds, while Anna McGill had 6 points and 7 rebounds.
