Sidney defeats Urbana in boys basketball

SIDNEY – Urbana lost to Sidney, 66-55, in non-league boys basketball Friday night.

“Sidney’s really good, but it was a close game most of the way,” said UHS Coach Jeremy Dixon. “We still need to rebound better and take care of the ball better, but I’m very optimistic about this team.”

For the Hillclimbers (5-4), Dakota Hower had 15 points, Jace Underwood had 14 and Levi Boettcher added 10.

Urbana won the jayvee game, 62-47. Isaiah Fonseca had 18 points and Grant Hower added 16 points and 11 rebounds for UHS.

Sidney won the 9th grade game, 58-45. Ethan Headlee and Braiden Portis each had 13 points for the Hillclimbers.

Urbana hosts Southeastern Tuesday night in non-league action.

Triad boys fall

NORTH LEWISBURG – Fairbanks downed Triad, 57-49, in OHC boys basketball Friday night.

For the Cardinals (4-3, 2-2), Thomas O’Neal had 15 points and Hadley LeVan added 11.

Fairbanks won the jayvee game, 59-43. Jordan Fyffe had 14 points for Triad.

Fairbanks won the 9th grade game, 46-21. Tate Campbell had 9 points for Triad.

The Cardinals host WL-S next Friday night.

UU falls to OU

ATHENS – Ohio University rallied to beat Urbana University, 77-50, in non-league men’s basketball on Friday.

The Blue Knights led, 34-31, at the half.

For UU (5-5), Jahmere Howze had 14 points and 4 rebounds and DeQuan Abrom had 12 points.

UU hosts West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

9th grade basketball

The WL-S boys lost to Fort Loramie, 53-31.

Trevor Woodruff had 9 points for the Tigers.

WL-S splits in bowling

WL-S lost to Fairbanks, 2,018-1,860, in boys bowling.

For the Tigers, Treven Marchal had a 216, Mike Price a 183, Isaac Riblet a 154, Hunter Smith an 80 and Logan Tompkins a 120.

The WL-S girls won, 1,853-1,799.

For WL-S, Erica McCall had a 183-150 333 series, Ashlyn Parks a 144-125 269 series, Hailee Clifford a 127-108 235 series, Lauren Hostetler a 125, Rylee LeVan a 106, Jillian Kirkham a 101 and Sarah Daulton a 98.
