Mechanicsburg nips Urbana in boys bowling

Urbana defeated Coldwater, 2,825-2,727, but lost to Mechanicsburg, 2,829-2,825, in boys bowling on Thursday.

For UHS (4-1), Justin Brown had a 193-278, Luc Russell a 238-218, Kyle Beavers a 206-223 and Andru Troyer a 200-188.

The Urbana girls placed third (2,386) behind Coldwater (2,643) and Mechanicsburg (2,438).

For UHS (2-3), Kayla Evans had a 190-195, Olivia Krieger a 158-190, Lily Cooksey a 159-183, Sarrah Baldwin a 182-153 and Lillian Daniels a 153.

Mechanicsburg scores were not reported by press time.

JH basketball

Triad beat Madison Plains, 36-26, in 8th grade girls basketball. For Triad, Frani LeVan had 13 points and 4 rebounds, Cati LeVan had 11 points and Baylie Plank added 6 points and 5 rebounds.

Mechanicsburg defeated Northeastern, 73-5, in 8th grade girls basketball. For Mechanicsburg, Jennifer Wallace had 20 points, Kaylee Warfield had 17 and Megan Alspaugh added 16.

Mechanicsburg won the 7th grade game, 22-2. For the Indians, Abby Gross had 8 points.

The WL-S 7th grade girls beat Cedarville, 44-30, to remain undefeated.

Emily Hollar had a double double with 21 points and 11 steals and Aubree Williams contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Tigers.

The WL-S 8th graders won, 45-25, to stay unbeaten. Gracie Estes led the way with 19 points, Selena Weaver added another double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Sophie Cole had 8 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers.

In 8th grade girls basketball, Urbana beat Indian Lake, 39-19. Sam Rooney scored a game-high 23 points for UJHS.

Urbana’s 7th graders won, 19-13.

The WL-S 7th grade boys basketball team downed Cedarville, 40-24. For the Tigers, Landon Stewert had 13 points and Logan Saylor added 12.
