With the spring 2016 semester kicking off, the Urbana University Athletics Department released the first Athletics Director’s Fall Honor Roll under AD Larry Cox.

A total of 106 student-athletes earned recognition and a school-record 30 Blue Knights posted a 4.0 grade-point average, which topped the previous mark of 28 set in the fall of 2012 and 2013.

To appear on the list, UU student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA with a full class schedule (12-plus credit hours). The Blue Knights have boasted triple-digit honorees in five out of the previous six semesters.

Women’s cross country (3.68) edged out men’s swimming (3.64) for the top team GPA, as 11 of UU’s 15 athletic programs put together a 3.0 GPA or higher last fall.

Football led the men’s sports with 18 honorees, although, men’s soccer featured an impressive 14 out of 20 student-athletes on the Honor Roll and six with a 4.0 GPA.

On the women’s side, volleyball and women’s basketball each had nine honorees and three team members with 4.0 GPA’s. Softball placed eight out of 11 student-athletes, while swimming had seven out of eight team members on the list.
