Mechanicsburg tops Fairbanks in girls basketball

MECHANICSBURG – Mikayla Dodane scored a game-high 21 points as Mechanicsburg defeated Fairbanks, 66-50, Thursday night in girls basketball.

Fairbanks led, 21-11, at the end of the first quarter but the Indians rallied to take a 34-30 lead at the half.

For Mechanicsburg, Kacey Schipfer had 17 points and Elly Schipfer added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Fairbanks won the jayvee game, 42-25. Emma Jones had 12 points for the Indians.

Urbana splits in bowling

Urbana beat Kenton Ridge, 2,900-2,763, in CBC boys bowling on Thursday.

For UHS (3-0), Luc Russell had a 208-256, Andru Troyer a 204-246, Taylor Armstrong a 202-226, Kyle Beavers a 173-248 and Justin Brown a 164.

The Urbana girls lost to KR, 2,411-2,218.

For UHS (2-1), Kayla Evans had a 215-193, Lily Cooksey a 173-158 and Olivia Krieger a 154-165.

JH basketball

West Liberty-Salem defeated Triad, 50-27, in 8th grade boys basketball.

For WL-S, Nick Burden had 20 points and Lance Baldwin added 8. For the Cardinals, Drew Campbell had 12 points.

The WL-S 7th grade boys won, 30-20. For the Tigers, Logan Saylor had 11 points and Dylan Lauck added 7.

Bellefontaine beat Urbana, 26-23, in 8th grade girls basketball. For UJHS, Sam Rooney scored 11 points and Shelby Stoops added 8.

The Urbana 7th graders won, 25-23. Maleah Murphy had 9 points for UJHS.
