Urbana High School will have a new head football coach pacing the sidelines next fall.

Coach Jon Daniels resigned the position this week, but cited no reason for his decision.

“I’m not going to discuss all that. I resigned the position. That’s all I’m willing to say,” Daniels said.

Daniels went 4-16 with matching 2-8 records in his two seasons with the Hillclimbers. He was 1-4 in the Mad River Division of the Central Buckeye Conference in 2015 and 0-4 in the Kenton Trail Division this past season.

Daniels played four years of football at Wittenberg University. His career began in 2004 and was put on hiatus when he enlisted with the U.S. Army.

He embarked on a tour of duty in Kuwait supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and upon completion, returned to football at Wittenberg in 2010 with permission from the National Guard.

He was a standout defensive player as a starter in 2011 and 2012, earning several accolades including being awarded First Team All-NCAC and Third Team Division III All-Ohio his final season. That season, he recorded 65 tackles, 4 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries and an interception.
