Miller, Tigers knock off Graham, 56-40

West Liberty-Salem defeated Graham, 56-40, in non-league boys basketball on Saturday.

Austin Miller had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Tigers (6-2) to victory. Tyler Louden chipped in 9 points.

Conner Wylie had 15 points and Andrew Ford scored 14 for Graham.

In the jayvee game, WL-S won, 39-37. Max Eggleston had 11 points and Trevor Burden added 8 for the Tigers.

Graham won the freshman game, 42-38. Oliver McGuire had 13 points and Dominic Blair added 12 for WL-S.

West Liberty-Salem plays at home against Fairbanks on Tuesday while Graham hosts Greenon that evening.

Mechanicsburg wins

Mechanicsburg defeated Ansonia, 62-35, in non-league boys basketball on Saturday.

Joey Butsch had 14 points for the Indians to lead the way. Mack Cushman had 12 points, Bobby Welch had 10 and Colton McMannis added 10.

Mechanicsburg took a commanding 21-7 lead after one quarter and cruised to victory.

Ansonia won the jayvee game, 40-32. Joey Mascadri scored 11 points to pace the Indians.

Mechanicsburg hosts Greeneview on Tuesday.

Junior high basketball

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys basketball team was handed its first loss of the season Saturday as Anna defeated the Tigers 54-48 in overtime. Tanner LeVan and Nick Burden each tallied 15 points for WL-S.

The 7th grade WL-S Lady Tigers dropped a non-league matchup to the Anna Rockets, 23-13, on Saturday. After a slow start, the Tigers finished stronger, but were unable to close the halftime gap. Anna McGill and Selena Weaver had 4 points each.

The 8th grade Lady Tigers also dropped their game to Anna, 43-17. The Tigers combined for 22 hard-fought rebounds and 8 team steals. Jamboree Cox led the scoring with 6 points.
