Urbana boys knock off Ponitz

Urbana defeated visiting Ponitz, 52-43, Monday night in non-league boys basketball.

“It was an ugly game, but we toughed it out,” said UHS Coach Jeremy Dixon. “It was a good non-conference win.”

For the Hillclimbers (4-1), Cameron Logwood had 17 points, Jordan Underwood had 12 and Levi Boettcher had 11.

Ponitz won the jayvee game, 51-47. Alex Lohnes led UHS with 16 points.

Urbana plays at Northwestern Friday night in CBC/MRD action.

WL-S wins in bowling

WL-S beat Greenon, 2,208-2,171, in non-league boys bowling on Monday.

Scores for the Tigers were Brad Burt 170, Reese Shafer 177, Justin Salyers 173, Mike Price 197 and Troyes Hostetler 160.

Junior high basketball

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys basketball team improved its record to 5-0 overall with 48-26 win over South Vienna on Monday. Lance Baldwin paced the Tigers with 15 points while Nick Burden chipped in 14.

The WL-S 8th grade boys won, 62-22. Trevor Woodruff led the Tigers (4-1) with 15 points, Eli McGill had 9 and Jack Eggleston added 8.

Urbana’s 7th grade girls beat Indian Lake, 17-14.

Urbana’s 8th graders lost, 35-6.

Urbana’s 7th grade boys lost to Indian Lake, 43-20. Wyatt Teets had 9 points for UJHS.

Urbana’s 8th grade boys won, 45-42. Grant Hower had 11 points and 14 rebounds, Ethan Headlee had 10 points and Isaiah Fonseca added 9 for Urbana (3-2).

The Triad 7th grade boys beat Miami View, 31-17. Drew Campbell had 11 points and JC Alexander had 7 for Triad.

Triad’s 8th grade boys won in overtime, 38-35. Dalton Emans had 13 points and Layne Thompson had 9 for Triad.

Graham’s 7th grade girls lost to Bellefontaine, 18-16. Lexi King had 10 points for Graham.

Triad’s 7th grade girls beat Miami View, 45-19. Cati LeVan had 22 points and Frani LeVan had 12 for Triad (5-1).

Triad’s 8th graders lost, 32-14. For Triad, Bailey Perry had 4 points.
