Triad girls knock off Catholic Central

SPRINGFIELD – Triad defeated Catholic Central, 56-20, in OHC girls basketball behind a game-high 17 points from Jenna Ober. Tori Thomas scored 13 points and Lydia Walls had 10 for the Cardinals.

Triad (1-3, 1-2 OHC) hosts Fairbanks on Wednesday.

Lady Tigers prevail

WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty-Salem beat Northeastern, 57-40, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

Jamie Peterson had 15 points with Mikalia McIntosh adding 10 for the Tigers.

West Liberty-Salem plays at Greeneview on Monday.

Mechanicsburg girls fall

MECHANICSBURG – Southeastern defeated Mechanicsburg, 59-33, on Saturday in OHC girls basketball.

Elly Schipfer had 13 points to lead the Indians.

Mechanicsburg hosts West Liberty-Salem on Thursday.

Falcons drop close game

SPRINGFIELD – Northwestern defeated Graham, 44-40, in CBC/MRD girls basketball on Saturday.

Sarah Henry had 12 points and Taylor Gibson had 11 points for the Falcons.

Northwestern also won the jayvee game, 37-30. Madi Vanscoy had 13 points for Graham.

Graham hosts Benjamin Logan on Wednesday.

Mechanicsburg tops Cedarville

MECHANICSBURG – Bobby Welch and Mack Cushman each had a team-high 21 points as Mechanicsburg beat Cedarville, 70-63, in OHC boys basketball Friday night.

Joey Butsch added 13 points for M’burg (1-0).

Mechanicsburg plays at Northeastern on Saturday.

WL-S 59, Northeastern 35

WEST LIBERTY – Austin Miller scored a career-high 25 points as WL-S defeated Northeastern, 59-35, Friday night in OHC boys basketball.

Kannon Stillings added a career-high 21 points for the Tigers.

In the jayvee game, WL-S won 56-33. Cody King had 17 points and Braden Miller scored 11.

The Tigers also won the freshman game, 48-39. Oliver McGuire (14), Alex Fitzpatrick (12) and Kasey Kite (11) were all in double figure scoring.

West Liberty-Salem’s varsity team (2-1, 1-0 OHC) hosts Cedarville on Friday.

Graham bowlers top WL-S

Graham defeated West Liberty-Salem, 2,148-1,592, in girls bowling Friday night.

Erica McCall had a 111-137/248 series and Hailee Clifford had a 104-140/244 for the Tigers. Sarah Dalton added a 129 game and Lauren Hostetler had a 100.

Mechanicsburg girls bowlers finish third

COLUMBUS – The Mechanicsburg girls bowling team finished third at the state invitational “kick off” tournament in Columbus on Saturday.

Ally Hosier had a 185-204-233/622 series to lead the Indians. She was the third place individual overall and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Katie Bush had a 249-165-166/580, Lauren Mayberry had a 185-174-209/568, Michaela Edwards had a 191-160-206/557 and Miranda Keene had a 162-178-188/528.

The Indians entered the elimination round with a third-place seed after the qualifying round, then defeated Jonathan Alder 3-1 and Versailles 3-0. Centerville defeated Mechanicsburg 3-1 in the semifinals.

Junior high basketball

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys basketball team improved to 2-0 as it edged Graham, 38-36, on Saturday. Kaden Burk was high scorer for the Tigers with 11 points, with Nick Burden adding 9. Brady King led the Falcons with 21 points.

West Liberty-Salem’s boys 8th grade basketball team defeated Graham, 38-25. The Tigers were led in scoring by Trevor Woodruff. Jack Eggleston had 8 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls basketball team beat Graham, 19-15. Lexi King scored 8 points for Graham.
