BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Urbana University’s Tajuan Green has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference headquarters. He’s the first Blue Knight to earn the recognition in three years (Oct. 14, 2013 – D.J. Mendenhall).

A redshirt-junior quarterback from Columbus, Ohio, Green led UU to a thrilling comeback win at Charleston last Saturday, 35-34. He accounted for five touchdowns and 411 yards while setting or tying career highs in passing yards (323), passing touchdowns (three), rushing yards (88), rushing touchdowns (two), completion percentage (69.6 percent) and total touchdowns (five).

His 88 yards on the ground are the most by a Blue Knight this season, and the three-touchdown performance through the air was his third in seven career games behind center.

Green displayed his speed by scoring the game-tying touchdown with 2:20 left on a very impressive 58-yard gallop to the end zone. That set up the go-ahead PAT to give the Blue Knights the lead for good.

Big plays were key against the Golden Eagles, as Green connected with wide receiver Camryn Snow for a 53-yard touchdown pass on the game’s opening drive. He found Snow again for a 68-yard strike in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to three points. Additionally, Green scored on a 10-yard run in the second quarter and threw for a 10-yard TD in the third to Trevon Saunders.

UU (3-5, 2-5 MEC) returns to action Saturday at home against UVa-Wise (5-3, 4-3 MEC). Kickoff will take place at 1 p.m. inside UU Stadium.
